Head Loft

Choosing the correct loft in your driver is critical in producing a proper launch angle. Golfers with a slower swing speed will benefit from a higher lofted driver (as it helps to get the ball in the air more easily) and the result will be higher trajectory, longer carry, and greater distance. Look at your average swing speed in order to determine the proper loft for your driver. 10.5° is the standard loft for the average men’s driver, 12° is the standard loft for the average women’s driver.

Swing speed	Recommended loft
60 - 70 MPH (<165 YARDS)	12 - 15° OF LOFT
70 - 80 MPH (165 - 200 YARDS)	11 - 13° OF LOFT
80 - 90 MPH (200 - 240 YARDS)	10 - 12° OF LOFT
90 - 100 MPH (240 - 275 YARDS)	9 - 11° OF LOFT
100 MPH+ (>275 YARDS)	8 - 10° OF LOFT

*Most Callaway Golf drivers come with a loft setting of 9, 10.5 or 12 degrees of loft, and can be adjusted to either -1 or +2 degrees of loft.

Shaft Flex

Choosing the right shaft flex for your game is crucial: without the correct flex, golfers will have a harder time making solid contact with the ball on a consistent basis, affecting the direction and distance of their shots. As a general guide, you can determine your shaft flex based on your clubhead speed. "R" is the standard shaft flex for the average men’s driver, "Womens/Ladies" is the standard shaft flex for the average women’s driver.

Clubhead speed	Recommended shaft flex
< 70 MPH (113 KM/H)	WOMEN’S: <55G
70 - 80 MPH (113 - 128 KM/H)	LIGHT: 45 - 60G
80 - 90 MPH (128 - 144 KM/H)	REGULAR: 55 - 70G
90 - 105 MPH (144 - 168 KM/H)	STIFF: 60 - 75G
> 105 MPH (168 KM/H)	X-STIFF: 75 - 90G

*If you’re at the lower end of your clubhead speed category, select a shaft weight at the lower end of the scale, and vice versa.

Shaft Length

Choosing the correct length of shaft will ensure you have the optimum level of control over your driver. The standard length of a driver is 45.75″ for men and 44.75″ for women. Your height and your level of control over the driver will determine the correct shaft length for you. A shorter golfer should go down 0.5″ to 1″. A golfer with less control over their driver might also consider going down by 0.5″ to 1″.

Shaft Flex

Clubhead speed	Recommended shaft flex
< 60 MPH (97 KM/H)	WOMEN’S: <55G
60 - 70 MPH (97 - 113 KM/H)	LIGHT: 55 - 75G
70 - 80 MPH (113 - 129 KM/H)	REGULAR: 55 - 125G
80 - 90 MPH (129 - 145 KM/H)	STIFF: 60 - 75G
> 90 MPH (145 KM/H)	X-STIFF: 85 - 120G

*If you’re at the lower end of your clubhead speed category, select a shaft weight at the lower end of the scale, and vice versa.

Shaft Length

Selecting the correct club length will ensure the golfer is in the address position which can be maintained throughout the golf swing. Too long a club length will cause a shorter player to stand too upright, while too short a club length will cause a taller player to stoop over the club.

Use this guide to determine which club length and lie is right for you, based on your height and wrist-to-floor measurement:

Women’s clubs are traditionally 1″ shorter than men’s. To determine the correct length for a woman, simply add one inch to the length suggested in the chart. For example, if the chart suggests shortening a man’s club by one inch, a woman’s club (already one inch shorter) might not need any length adjustment.

* Measurements should be performed by someone other than yourself.

** Lie angles listed are intended as a reference point. Professional custom fitting is needed to determine correct lie angle.

Shaft Material

Irons come with either graphite or steel shafts. Golfers with a lower swing speed would generally perform better with a graphite shaft, as it can help with getting the ball in the air.

Head Lie Angle

Getting the correct lie angle of your iron will ensure the position of the club head at address and impact will strike the ground, rather than the heel or toe. A club which is too upright for a golfer will cause the clubface to close, resulting in a pull or a hook (for right-handed players), while a club which is too flat will hit the ground with the toe, causing the clubface to open and resulting in a push or a slice (for right-handed players).
